...my first ever blog post. ever.

I was going to start my blog probably like a lot of people — "so what do I do now?" or by saying "Hello, Reader" or something else equally as generic. The other thought I have had that's equally as cliched as the previous by stating "I don't know how you found this blog or even if you're still reading..." but I guess there's no way to really start your first ever blog.

I have posted on forums, started threads, bought things, sold things, talked over the internet to people thousands of miles away, yet this is the most daunting of my internet dabblings in my many years of riding the wave on the 'super-highway'.

So...reader (if you're still here and please let me know if you are) what are you going to expect on these here pages? Firstly, no doubt my stories. Whilst I wouldn't be so bold to say that I *am* an author, I am aspiring. I do not confess think I'm anything more than average, but I'm very happy to be proved otherwise, either for the positive or negative. Just be nice and constructive. Other than that, I hope to open up in time and give my take on what else is going on in my life, should I feel the need to vent my spleen.

There you have it. My first ever post on my first ever blog. I'll post some of my very short tales soon and what they all mean. Let me know how you feel about them...

Yes, what is it about starting a blog for the first time that's so darn nerve-wracking?

I'm pretty new to this myself, starting a month or so before you, and once I got over the newbie worries it started to be fun. Then came the, "Er, is anyone actually reading this? Is there any point to this at all?" Apparently about 56% of blogs die for this exact reason -- the novelty factor has worn off and there's no one listening. I was lucky because I sort of had a ready-built audience from my main site at EnidBlyton.net, which has been going for a few years -- the blog was just an extension of that. But even without that I think the trick is to forget about who's reading (or not) and just treat it like a journal or a place to get your thoughts down. It might be a while, but eventually people will start wandering by and poking their noses in...
