...going nowhere fast

"Come ON, Daniel!!!" Sarah shouted through hardly gritted teeth.

"But where's Becca?" Daniel replied, throwing his arms in the air.

"If you ask me that one more time, you and your sister will not being going to Blizzard Beach tomorrow, now come on." Her exasperation was clear for all of Animal Kingdom to see. She knew that taking these two terrors to Disney was not going to be a 'walk in the park', more like a world tour. Sarah held out her hand more in desperation than hope.

"But..."

"DANIEL!!! She said she'd meet us by the Monkeys...we're going to see the Monkeys." And if I had my way I'd throw you in with them...she muttered.

"She was just here though..." he was starting to sulk like a child as he rotated on the spot, narrowly avoiding sending a Mickey Mouse hat flying from a passing girl.

"Stop sulking like a child." she chided.

"I'm only 9. I'm allowed." he said offering his hand to be held. Cheeky sod.

"Now come on, the Monkey's aren't far and she'll have a Coke for you." Hopefully the lure of a cold drink would send Daniel into a stride.

"But I wanted a Sprite..." he moaned pitifully.

"Sprite, Coke, Diet Coke, Mountain Dew, Dr Pepper....you'll get what you're given. Now shush up and hold my hand and don't let go."

"Can we get a burger before we go?" He chanced his luck, again."NO! We're getting a Pizza later, in the Rainforest Cafe, remember?"

"Oh yeah, it's my birthday, I forgot that too." he giggled "Can I get a Volcano Cake?" he charmed.

"Maybe, if you promise to be quiet for a few more minutes until we meet with your sister." Sarah traded like a proper Mom. Son and Mother walked over a bridge, nearer to the swinging monkeys.

"BECCA!!!" Daniel screamed as he let go of his Mum's hand. The peace was short lived.

"Did you get me a Sprite or a Coke? I'm not fussy." Daniel reached out to the tray of drink his older sister was carrying clumsily. Daniel removed the straw, chugged down his drink, most of it landing on his t-shirt.

I can't take two more weeks of this, Sarah internally screamed as the hot Floridian sun beat down on her brow. Another mother walking by smiled a knowing smile, as she held toddler twins in her hands. Sarah thanked her lucky stars and returned to her slightly older but troublesome offspring.
